What is the SRA thinking? Some insights from its COLP & COFA Conference

Partner Andrew Pavlovic attended the SRA’s annual COLP and COFA conference last week, at which the SRA shared their perspectives on key events of the past year and some insights into their highest priorities for the future.

In this discussion with fellow Partner Corinne Staves, Andrew addresses some of these priorities, including:

  1. The SRA’s somewhat indignant stance on the LSB’s criticism of its supervision and oversight of Axiom.

  2. The SRA’s consumer protection consultation (which has now been published) on proposals including the scrapping of client account.

  3. The SRA’s proposal to increase fining powers and how it is responding to the negative feedback it received.

  4. Whether or not law firm mergers should be regulated differently.

  5. Some top tips on how to measure culture following the recent SRA relationship manager visits.

This is essential listening for those that missed the COLP & COFA conference but want an insight into the SRA’s current stance on this range of topical issues for law firms.

If you have any questions arising from this recording, or would like to discuss any of these points in more detail, please contact Partners Andrew Pavlovic or Corinne Staves.
