Top employment and partnership law firm CM Murray LLP has expanded its practice with the appointment of leading employment lawyer Emma Bartlett. She joins the firm from a large, full-service City firm, where she was a partner for over a decade.
With over 20 years’ experience, Emma Bartlett has advised start-up founders, employers and senior executives in a varied cross-section of employment matters. She has particular expertise in contentious workplace disputes, high-value severance negotiations and managing exits smoothly, equal pay, discrimination, whistleblowing, restrictive covenants, and board room and contract disputes. She also advises LLP members and firms on partnership exits, discrimination and team move issues.
Emma’s broad client base spans several key sectors, including financial services, professional services (including legal and architectural), surgical, pharmaceutical/biotech and design/media. As a litigator, her knowledge is underpinned by a strategic approach to negotiations – representing clients in the High Court and in tribunal cases, including in obtaining, executing and defending interim injunctions against former employees alleged to have breached confidentiality provisions.
With this appointment, CM Murray LLP continues its trajectory of growth, further strengthening its Tier 1 senior executive and founder practice. The appointment also reinforces the firm’s market-leading reputation and bench strength in complex, high-value partnership issues. It is the fourth addition to the CM Murray partnership in the past two years.
Emma also regularly speaks on diversity and inclusion and is editor of Employment Precedents and Company Policy Documents, published by Thomas Reuters.
Clare Murray, Founder and Managing Partner of CM Murray LLP, commented on the appointment:
“We are absolutely delighted that Emma has joined us; she is a wonderful addition to the firm and her expertise is a fantastic strategic fit with that of our firm and our international employment law alliances Innangard and Innangard Executives.
“Emma’s experience at the sharp end of boardroom disputes and contentious employment and partnership litigation, and her financial and professional services focus, perfectly complement our Tier 1 reputation in advising senior executives, partnerships/LLPs and partners on the full range of their cross-border employment and partnership arrangements and disputes.”
Emma Bartlett commented:
“I’m thoroughly excited to be joining CM Murray LLP. The firm’s reputation as employment and partnership specialists speaks for itself; it is unrivalled, and I am delighted to be a part of it. I am keen to start contributing to the future successes of the firm, working alongside a team of top professionals to drive CM Murray LLP forward.”
